Jatropha curcas, tuba-tuba or kasla in the native tongue, found its rightful place in the denuded and cogonal Ancestral Domain Lands of the indigenous peoples under the Confederacy of the Supreme Council of Datus Alimaong (SCODA). The initial six (6) plantation modules of 10,000 hectares each or total of 60,000 hectares have already been identified in the provinces of Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental, notably in Cagayan de Oro City. The project is dubbed “Tahas Kasla” (“Project Jatropha”).

Thus, kasla plantations are being established in the Municipality of Medina and the City of Gingoog. One module is in Cagayan de Oro City while another is in the towns of Opol, Alubijid, Laguindingan and Matincao, still in the province of Misamis Oriental.  In Bukidnon Province, the modules stride the Sitios of Tagmaray, Sabanan, San Luis in Malitbog with possible expansion into Claveria, Misamis Oriental.  As of this month, kasla nurseries are already in place in a total of more than 7 hectares. Seed procurement for the increase in plantation of nurseries continues.
